Are there tolls in Norway?
Are there tolls in Norway?
Updated over 6 months ago

In Norway, new tunnels, bridges and stretches of road are generally subject to tolls until the construction costs have been paid.

Motorbikes are not subject to tolls.

When passing through a toll plaza, the vehicle is registered electronically. The owner of a vehicle not registered in Norway receives a toll invoice by post from Epass24 (Park Trade Europe AB). Payment is made online. Before the journey, vehicles with foreign number plates can be registered online with Epass24 and an account created; however, this is not compulsory.

This allows you to receive invoices by e-mail, manage them online, view due dates and make payments. The invoice amount can also be cleared online directly with a credit card.

Epass24 only issues invoices for vehicles registered abroad. Vehicles registered in Norway pay the charges directly to the toll companies.

For longer stays in Norway, a chip contract may be considered. Depending on the length of your stay and the course of your journey in other Scandinavian countries, you may be able to obtain attractive discounts from the various distribution companies. What's more, payment of the congestion charge is simplified in most towns and cities.
