In principle, Swedish roads are toll-free, but some bridges charge tolls.
The Oresund Bridge (https://www.oresundsbron.com/)
Payment points are located on the Swedish side of the bridge. Payment can be made on the spot in cash or by credit card, or online in advance. Online tickets are cheaper and allow you to pass without stopping, thanks to a pre-registered number plate.
Motala bridge and Sundsvall bridge
When passing through a control station, the vehicle's registration number is photographed and the owner of the vehicle is identified. The owner then receives an invoice by post. In the case of vehicles with foreign number plates, the payment service provider EPASS24 handles this on behalf of the Central Office of Transport. The vehicle owner is responsible for paying the taxes on time, even if he or she has not received an invoice. If you have not received an invoice within three months, please contact the Central Transport Office. [email protected]
Congestion charge (Trängselskatt):
Stockholm and Göteborg have a congestion charge system. This tax also applies to foreign vehicles. Payment is automatically recorded via your vehicle registration number, and you will receive a bill at home via EPASS24.
Congestion charges depend on the time you enter or leave the city. They are not charged at weekends, on public holidays and in July (for example, in Stockholm on the first 5 working days).
